Improving Water Quality in Caloosahatchee River

By Melissa Cabral, WINK News

A major step in making the Caloosahatchee River cleaner.

Groundbreaking was held for Billy's Creek Filter Marsh Park.

It will be located off Woodside Avenue in East Fort Myers.

The marsh will improve the water quality of Billy's Creek by filtering out all the garbage and impurities before flowing into the Caloosahatchee.

It's two and a half years in the making, and will cost more than one million dollars.

Fort Myers Councilman for Ward 1 Warren Wright says,"It's a big step forward in making sure Fort Myers is part of the solution in terms of environmental health."

They also hope to use the park for student education programs.
