Collier County: "Don't let your guard down"

By Melissa Cabral, WINK News

Naples - In Collier County, don't let your guard down.

That's the word from Emergency Management officials.

They tell WINK News we're not in the clear yet, and people need to remain vigilant.

Officials are not planning any mandatory evacuations right now.. but that may change in the coming days if Ike's path moves closer to Southwest Florida.

They're concerned areas prone to flooding or storm surge may be a problem.

Collier Co. Emergency Management Executive Director Jim vonRinteln says, "We've have a lot of rain there are areas still prone to flooding the ground is saturated so people need to think about that. If their home is one of those that is almost flooded at this point they may want to do some precautionary preventive measures."

Some of those measures include sandbagging your home, making sure you have three to five days of water and food and all your hurricane supplies handy.

Emergency Management officials will be meeting again Sunday.
