UPDATE: Firefighter accused of having child pornography resigns

By Nicole Papageorge, WINK News

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - A firefighter charged with having child pornography on his computer has resigned.

Deputies arrested 53-year-old George Menz last week. He apparently had seven pictures of 11 and 12-year-old girls in compromising positions on his computer.

A technician apparently found the pictures while removing a virus from Menz's laptop.

"I have 240 employees," says Charlotte County Fire Chief Dennis DiDio. "You don't know what goes on in people's private lives."

Menz is a 21-year veteran of the department.

We all know this kind of crime is the worst crime a person can commit. He should face registration. But, the constitution states that discovery is illegal.
