"Drop in a Bucket" campaign: Donations for Officer Widman's family

By Nick Spinetto, WINK News

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA - Donations for Officer Widman's family continue to pour in. It all started on Sunday with the "Drop in a Bucket" campaign.

The goal was to raise a $100,000 dollars.

The campaign ended at 6pm Tuesday night.

As of our deadline, a final figure hasn't been totaled. But I can tell you they surpassed their goal of collecting a $100,000. And it's all because of people like you.

For the past 3 days, all over Southwest Florida people have been donating money, even jewelry.

Local businesses are also helping.

On Tuesday a Cape Coral car wash donated all their proceeds to officer Widman's family and Allied Recycling in Fort Myers announced they are donating$10,000 to the Widman's.

But they're donation comes with a challenge for you.

"Besides just donating the money. We want to challenge another business or individual to match our ten thousand dollars, so we can raise a total of twenty," said Brown Thompson of Allied Recycling.

If you're up for the challenge you can call Brown at 239-633-3855.

We were very upset and extremly diappointed as to soap operas being on durring a time that we thought was going to be used to view and honor the entire funeral of fallen police officer, ANDY WIDMAN, totally unexceptable. Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife and entire family. Mrs Woolsey
