FORT MYERS, Fla. - One of Fort Myers' own receives quite an honor. She was just crowned the new Miss Florida. 20-year-old Sierra Minott won the Miss Florida pageant Saturday night in St. Petersburg.
Minott graduated from Fort Myers High School in 2006.
She's accustomed to being pageant royalty. Earlier this year she was crowned Miss Palm Beach County.
Minott is a college Sophomore at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
WINK News spoke with Minott's grandmother Sunday night, who says she is thrilled for her granddaughter.
Both Sierra and her parents were in St. Petersburg for the pageant. Her parents were expected back late Sunday night. Sierra is expected back in Fort Myers on Monday.
Next year, she'll compete in the Miss America Pageant where she will represent the state of Florida.
