NAPLES, Fla. - An 18-year-old from Collier County is dead after a truck crossed a median and hit her car head-on.
The crash happened around 2:10 Saturday afternoon on the June 28th.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers tell WINK News, 18-year-old Sydni Y. Rounds of Naples was killed in the head-on crash.
Troopers say Rounds was driving East on Golden Gate Boulevard near 19th Street Northwest.
That is when a man was driving his Dodge pick-up truck crossed over the inside eastbound lane, hopped the raised median and slammed head-on into Rounds car. Round was the only person in her 1998 two-door Honda.
Rounds was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital where she died from injuries she received in the crash.
The of the truck Anthony J. Dirre of Naples is charged with careless driving causing a fatality. After the crash, Dirre was taken to Physicians Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
