70-year-old woman follows would-be robber
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - A 70-year-old woman helped Manatee County authorities catch a would-be robber who apparently underestimated his intended victim.
The woman was walking through a parking lot to her vehicle Sunday night, when a man jumped out and demanded that she give him all her money. Instead, she ran away, got to her car and then followed the man. Authorities say she called the sheriff's office when she saw him try to hide behind a privacy fence. Deputies arrested Alberto Chelen-Maroquin and charged him with attempted robbery. No bond had been set. --- Information from: The Bradenton Herald , http://www.bradenton.com (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
