By the way, those of you who have posted to this page may find it interesting that this has popped up on the "Port Charlotte High School" Wikipedia page.

Why did he have to be PORT Charlotte's band director; it's CHS in Punta Gorda that has all the crazy people if you know what I mean.

I was also in the band back when Dale started helping out. I knew nothing of any wrong doing, nor was I a victim. But one thing that I always wondered was why he was around. He was a banker when he started assisting with the band and was not a teacher. Then after I graduated he started to be around more, and then eventually took over as the director. But I never knew he was a musician or a teacher. I always wondered what he had done to qualify him to direct the band...any ideas?

I don't know if anyone still reads this, but I have to say something. I believe alot of you are wrong. I will not say if Dale was guilty or innocent because I honestly don't know. I will say that as someone who knew Dale from band I know he had a great heart for music and for helping people, I was one of those kids that got money for dinner a few times. My heart goes out to the kids that are affected, his wife, his friends, everyone else who is affected by this indirectly.

Yes, teachers and assistants are always wrong to invite a student to their house alone. Kids may do dumb things, but teachers should be above reproach. They risk lawsuit, lies, or even simple temptation being alone with a student. Think of it akin to drunk driving: it doesn't matter what other drivers are doing, if you are involved in an accident and were drunk, YOU are at fault. We need ZERO tolerance for this nonsense. It's 1 way to reduce the crazy sexual relations occurring b/w staff n kids

Yeah but you went didn't you. In all fairness your parents and you showed a serious lack of judgement. Teachers should respect certain boundaries when it comes to inviting students over but lets face it it happens. I've been over to my teachers house who lived right up the street for one reason or the other. But I took responsibility for that. Not saying that whatever MAY HAVE happened to these kids is their fault. Teachers invite kids over all the time...are they wrong too? Or just Dale?

No teacher or assistant should EVER have a student alone in their house EVER! Bowe knew better than to invite me to his hot tub alone with him while I was a male student! I shouldn't know he had pics of the band in his living room that hung close to the ceiling, or about his big Alaskan dogs that smelled very nice, but I do. I should have told Lopez. Trust your instincts. If it feels weird, it's weird. Get away and stay away. That Bowe was inviting students to his house ALONE is a HUGE RED FLAG!

When someone spills coffee on themselves, a suit is superfluous. When someone falls down an escalator, a suit is superfluous. When an individual causes damage to something or someone that makes them responsible. I don't know what the victims costs will be, but there will certainly be costs. Maybe hundreds, but probably thousands of dollars. Sho do you think should pay for these?
Sunday, Jun 8 at 11:38 PM Leave the victims alone wrote ...
The condemnation of the victims angers me. Surely talk of a civil suit is morbid under the current conditions, but Dale chose this. He was driven to it by the recourse of his actions, not by selfish acts of his victims. The accusations against Dale were severe but the acts he perpetrated were taboo. Several victims came forth and they do not all seek money; I am not quick to judge whether or not the victims deserve money either. They wished to see justice served, and Dale robbed them of it.

I was molested for 14 years, and I turned out pretty okay thanks. So all of you who are complaining that he devistated children you don't know what you're talking about. First of all these were not children like 7 year old boys. These were teenagers. The last time I looked teenagers engage in sexual activities on their on volition as well. Let's keep that in mind. Dale is still innocent. We in the US have a legal system that supports that, maybe you should all look up The US Constitution.

How does Dale's estate have anything to do with the case??? How does money play into this?? How will gaining a large sum of money "fix" anything?? It won't. That's my point. If anyone needs money, it's his wife to take on the expenses of a funeral and a mortgage and bills on her own. So let's do the right think and file a lawsuit against what is probably now her estate and take that away from her?? That's seems REALLY relevant to the situation at hand......
Saturday, Jun 7 at 8:27 AM Concerned wrote ...
It's odd that you complain about accusations, but condemn the accusers for lying in the same breath. It is not a single child, it is not a single event, and the accounts are accurate. It's sad that Dale took the cowardly and selfish way out that he did, but he (or his estate) is still responsible for the expenses the victims will have.
Friday, Jun 6 at 8:21 PM Live and let live wrote ...
It's bad enough that Dale's wife has to deal with loosing her husband and the media attacking him while she grieves. Now there's talk of a law suit!! You have got to be kidding me. That's what's wrong with society, everyone seems to think that a law suits and $$$ are the answer. A law suit is attacking Dales wife NOT Dale. Unless you were there, you have no right or ability to call him guilty. Let Dale's wife grieve and move on with her life, and let the man rest in peace. Enough is enough.

It's kind of dissapointing to read some of these posts. I was in marching band when Mr. Bowe first came to it. He was and I believe is still a wonderful man. People seem to be quick to throw someone away at the first accusation. Some of you knew him from band also...do you forget when he would GIVE you money after school to go eat so you wouldn't pass out at one of Lopez's crazy practices? How he'd sit and talk to you about anything and everything on your mind and never judge you? RIP Dale.

Like many sexual predators, this child molestor led a terrible double life that ultimately led to his own demise.I know the family of one of the victim's and you cannot fathom the trauma and devastation that family has suffered. The way Bowe chose to end his life only reinforces his guilt. He should have faced his accusers like a man and defended his innocence, but in the end, this CHILD MOLESTOR was no different than all CHILD MOLESTORS, he was a COWARD and took the easy way out.

I was in the Band when Dale first started helping out and he was always such a great guy that I'm really shocked to hear about all this. When I first heard about what happened my first reaction was that if he was molesting kids then there should be no sympathy. After letting it sink in I think we should all just wait and see how the investigation pans out. What if these two kids were upset with him and made up the story, we'd be praising the death of an innocent man.

I am a RED KNIGHT alumni & was also in band. You trust you band director probably a little more than any other teacher. What he was accused of was horrible. I understand that people are upset & want to defend him, but I can not see why. Some of you may have known him but, as my mom always said " What's done in the dark will come to the light." May God have mercy on his soul.

I do not for a minute believe the accusations against him, and his death is a shame. I know it wont happen however, I wish the investigation would continue to prove them false. Then these kids could be tried for multiple crimes including his death. Pirate Pride Personified! RIP Dale. My heart goes out to you Debbie.

and the founding ideals of this country state a man (or woman) is INNOCENT until proven guilty. Accusations were made but never proven. Dale Bowe was a man that loved teaching and dedicated his life to helping students reach their true potential through music. Regardless of what a judge or jury would have decided his career was over. Instead of this hate, maybe we should take a moment to thank his memory for the long years of service he rendered this community. All true musicians feel his loss.

Having known Dale and Debbie for the last 10 years I am very sad that this had to end this way. I do not believe any of those accusations made towards him at all and never did. Having been to Orlando with Dale many times I have never seen him do anything to anyone. He was an awesome person and someone who spent alot of time helping others. Some of your comments are so inappropriate. So many of you are so quick to judge someone based on allegations.

Dale has found himself in the hands of a very angry God. Corinthians 17.165 and a half states that the verisimilitude of suicide is out of the scope of acceptable behavior. He clearly couldn't live with himself for imbibing the phalluses of the young. Those boys trusted him and it is a shame that he betrayed their trust. Angry god has it in for his soul. Dale was a baad man. srsly.

When you're suicidal and your life isn't going to get any better, no amount of counseling would have assisted, he had no way out. Those of you speaking of God's judgment, Jesus would have said to pray for people like Dale, not condemn them.

If the true damage was done to the students that were affected, then why should anything be said? the people that are commenting weren't directly effected by Dale Bowe. So I think its time that people kept their opinions to themself and finally let this all come to a rest. The damage is done. Let it go. All that is happening now is more damage to the victims and the loved ones of Dale Bowe by these comments. Its time to let this go.

I have known Debbie and Dale for 20 years and you couldn't meet two of the nicest people in the world. If Dale did what is being said, that was up to the judge and the Lord to decide his punishment. Dale was of good character and very upstanding for most of his adult life and the 'tarnishment' he felt was obviously too overwhelming. I don't think it is our place to praise his death-shame on you- (this was bigger than him). We should pray for "all" who lost...the teens, his wife, his family.

What ever happened to Innocent untill proven guilty!! Dale Bowe was accussed of something, that doesn't mean he did it. Dale's life was about bringing joy to kids through music. Now with the accusations, it wouldn't matter if it were proven that these accusations were false and slanderous, he would never be able to work with students again. So no matter what, his life was over. Most suicides come about through forseen depression not guilt. A man is innocent until proven guilty. Respect the Dead.

He was a great man who put a lot of time into perfecting what he was doing. This morning when we walked into the band room there was nothing but silence, no one expected this to happen. NO! Do you think students care? NO! Praise the students for murder. GOOD WORK! He was judged by humans, and not by God. Do you still wave the flag?
