Deputies: Mariah Carey song sparks road rage

By Mike Essian, WINK News

NAPLES, Fla. - A Mariah Carey song inspires an apparent case of road rage in Collier County.

The song was "One Sweet Day," but things didn't end so sweetly for the couple listening to it in their car. Zachary Schreiber and his fiance were playing the song while driving their convertible down Pine Ridge Road in North Naples Saturday.

When they stopped at an intersection, Schreiber's fiance says a passenger in another car called Schreiber a derogatory name for listening to the song and according to deputies, that started a mile-and-a-half shouting match between the two cars.

The argument ended when Schreiber allegedly threw a beer bottle at the other passenger, who ducked, causing the bottle to hit the driver in the head.

Many drivers say they've seen road rage, but this case, tops the charts.

"I'd have to say that person had some issues because that's a pretty nice song, actually," Dustin Kellermeyer said.

Schreiber was at work all day Monday and was not available for comment, but his fiance says he has hired an attorney for the incident. He is charged with shooting a missile into a vehicle and criminal mischief.
