Run, swim, and bike to victory in Cape Coral

By WINK News

CAPE CORAL - A lot of folks are probably getting some well deserved rest Saturday night, after participating in Cape Coral's first ever triathlon.

About 250 people took part in the 5K run, 11-and-a-half mile bike ride, and quarter-mile swim at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.

The winner: Larry Black of South Fort Myers finished the race in about 51 minutes.

He tells WINK News he trains year round.

"A lot of days I get up early run at five in the morning and either swim or bike in the afternoon, usually an hour-and-a-half or sometimes 2 hours. So I normally train up to 3 hours a day and work out 5 days a week," Black said.

Black says his kids tease him about acting like he's 20. But he admits he's not. He'll actually turn 50 next week.
