Sheriff's helicopter crashes, 2 pilots are OK

LAKE WALES, Fla. (AP) - A Polk County Sheriff's helicopter has crashed while practicing emergency operations, but the two pilots were not seriously injured.

Authorities say the pilots were practicing drills late Thursday afternoon when they crashed at the Lake Wales Airport.

They were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
