Fire fears in Lehigh Acres

By WINK News

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Sunday afternoon Lehigh Acres fire crews battled a house fire. The fire was near the intersection of 75th Street West and Ida Avenue North.

The crews battling the blaze were concerned the fire could spread to area brush. Some embers jumped from the house onto the brush starting very small patches on fire, but no large areas burned.

The house is a total loss. There is no word at this point why the house caught fire.

LAFD is sitting on 8 million dollars in cash reserves and one million of the 8 million is for personnel ........ What tax revenue issue? 2007-2008 budget for the LAFD was 34 million which 8 million was in reserves ........

Re report regarding the house fire in Lehigh Acres. The Lehigh Fire Dept. claims it could have saved the home if they had the more experienced firefighters on site....and this happens because they have not enough money due to the changes in tax revenue. This is misleading as one News Station reported not long ago that the Lehigh Acres Fire Dept is doing a new paint job on there vehicles for thousands of $$$$....a better priority would have been to add a new job position instead!!!
