Shooting in Fort Myers

By WINK Web Manager

SOUTHWEST, Fla – Crime tape roped off part of the parking lot at the Thomas Street Apartment, Friday night. Investigators are looking for any clues in a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Akeem Williams, was shot in the upper back, while he was inside his own home.

Investigators say two men were seen arguing in the apartment's parking lot. A gun was fired three to four times, with one of the shots hitting the victim.

The suspects then took off.

A witness helped lead police to the getaway car that was found down the street from the scene.

Police say they do have one person in custody, 29-year-old Zahid Jones, who they're questioning. They're still looking for a second suspect, identified as Michael Donaldson.

Williams' injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
