COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A Palmetto Ridge High School football player is showing "good signs," Friday evening, according to family and doctors.

A Collier County School District spokesperson says Elbrinet Dupras, 16, is breathing on his own, moving around, and reacting to people talking to him.

Palmetto Ridge Principal Roy Terry said Friday morning that Dupras, an 11th grader, was in a huddle Thursday afternoon when "he became dizzy, dropped to one knee" and collapsed.

Coaches and trainers assisted Dupras and emergency services was called. Dupras was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for treatment, Terry said.

According to Tampa General, Elbrinet Dupras is in FAIR condition at this time.

Terry said the workout Thursday was "light."

On the 2007 roster, the 5-foot-6, 180-pound Dupras was listed as an offensive and defensive lineman.

The news comes nearly seven weeks after the death of former Lely High School star Ereck Plancher, 19, who collapsed after a football workout in March at the University of Central Florida.
