North Fort Myers homicide investigation

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Lee County Sheriff's Office has ruled the death of a North Fort Myers man as a homicide.

At 1:18 Thursday morning, deputies responded to a medical call at 70 Crescent Lake Drive.

Inside the home, they found the body of 44 year old Jerry Shawn Collins.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit suspect foul play due to evidence found on scene,

i had met jerry when he was married to louise back in the 70's. i am sad to hear that he has passed in such a tragic way. our hearts go out to his family. we love you uncle jd, aunt betty.

Jerry was a very loving and caring person .I knew him very well because he was the love of my life for 4 years. he was good to me and we shared so much together. He was a good daddy and good husband.He would give you the shirt off his back.He loved his family all of them.I hope the person that done this goes to prison for the rest of his life because I dont think he could do something so bad to get murdered for it.He is going to be missed by me and his family and child. His child has no father.

Jerry was at that address working as a carpenter for a family friend. He had been telling family members that the house was done and was to go to another rental property to fix. The family has a better picture of Jerry and only wishes that the person or persons involved in his death are caught. Jerry has only been in Florida for a year, he wanted to better his life and be closer to family members here.
