Bikers react in Fort Myers to new Florida bill

By WINK News

SOUTHWEST, FLa - Increased fines and the possibility of prison time is what motorcyclists who speed or perform stunts would wind up with under a new bill headed to the governor's desk.
The bill passed the senate tuesday.

Lawmakers sponsoring the bill say its purpose is to stop riders of high-performance bikes from endangering other motorists by speeding and driving recklessly on public roads.
Riders charged with reckless driving for performing tricks or breaking the speed limit by more than 50 miles per hour would face a one thousand dollar fine.

A third offense would land a rider in prison for up to five years and without their motorcycle license for ten years.
