Comfortware for cancer patients

By Lindsay Liepman, WINK News

FORT MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers business is going international! They're using the internet to reach cancer patients throughout the world. And it all started, when a mother of two was told she had breast cancer.

"When I heard those words from my doctor that day that I had cancer, it was an out of body experience, it was a shock," said Kelly Henderson.

Today, Kelly Henderson has a full head of hair, but she wears a head scarf like a badge of courage. Because two years ago she beat breast cancer.

"My husband was my rock, my children they were there for me through the whole thing, and I would not have been able to get through it without them," she said.

She also leaned on best friend Sylvia Kelly.

"It's tough to see a loved one go through something like that because our first instinct is I wish it was me, or what can I do to help," said Sylvia.

During chemo, Kelly had an idea to create a line of comfort wear for cancer patients and their loved ones; taking orders on the internet and by phone.

A partnership between Kelly, her aunt and Sylvia...iwearitwell.com, was born.

"Women struggle with what to wear anyway but when you don't have your hair and you're trying to figure out what to wear, this makes your day easy," said Kelly.

Their company logo is a profile of Kelly during treatment and a periwinkle scarf that represents cancer awareness.

Vibrant colors reflect their faith in finding a cure.

"I have no doubt sometime in our lifetime there is going to be a cure, and I hope that puts us out of business one day," said Kelly.

The company donates part of their sales to cancer research. They also offer gift cards and hope to launch a children's line.
