CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - For the first time in 28 years, the Charlotte County Airport will stay open for the show and incorporate a brand new act.
"When we heard Skybus was coming we said man that's kind of cool," says Skip Hapner from the Florida Air Show. "How do we incorporate that into the show?"
Representatives from Skybus, the airport, and the air show all met to figure out how to run the show at the same time the commercial airliner would be flying into the airport.
The plan is to have former air traffic controllers run a tower for four days. It's a move Air Show officials are proud of.
"They will know when Skybus is coming so we can incorporate it into our show and announce it to people that haven't seen Skybus land at Charlotte County Airport," says Hapner. "[They] will get that chance."
