Building Southwest Florida's Vietnam Veterans Memorial

By WINK Web Manager

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Vietnam Memorial in Fort Myers is to be unveiled Sunday afternoon at two o'clock.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is at the foot of the Midpoint Bridge.

The memorial features names of Southwest Florida veterans who died in the Vietnam War, along with a bronze field cross consisting of boots, a rifle and helmet symbolic of the service of American servicemen.

The panels on the memorial were engraved by Sanibel Island resident Lucas Century, who invented the engraving process used on the Washington D.C. Vietnam War Memorial.
