FIRST ON WINK: Three men arrested behind airport fence

By WINK News

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - Three men are under arrest Saturday night after hoping a fence at Southwest Florida International Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Vicki Moreland tells WINK News, three people were seen acting suspiciously near the Hertz rent-a-car. A call was made to the Port Authority Police around 9:10 to report the activity.

When police approached the men they fled on foot.

While running from police, the men jumped the airport fence and were on the air-side of the airport. That means the men were in a secured area without permission.

After entering the secured area, the men were quickly caught.

Moreland tells WINK News they authorities do not believe the men were trying to commit any terror related act by jumping the fence. Airport Police believe the men were just trying to run from police, and that is why they jump the fence.
