NORTH PORT - We're learning more about where suspect Michael King was before, police say, he abducted and killed North Port mom Denise Lee.
Documents from the Knight Trail Gun Range in Nokomis showed Michael King signed in at 11:58 a.m. Published reports say King was shooting a 9mm gun, the same type police say was used to kill Denise Lee.
Then at 2 p.m. King was spotted again at the North Port Post Office by witness Chuck Briggs. King was standing just a few people behind Denise Lee in line.
"He really caught my eye because his eyes were kinda strange and he was kinda grizzly," says Briggs. "He was just kinda different he stood out a bit.:
Briggs also noticed a young woman carrying a very large package and decided to help her. The next day while reading the paper, he realized who that woman was.
"I said to my wife my gosh that was the woman that was missing, that was the one I helped through the door," says Briggs.
But Briggs says he didn't see any interaction between King and Lee.
"[They] didn't look at each other or anything."
Now, Briggs remains haunted by the incident.
"It really shocked me, its bothered me for 2 to 3 days since and it still does," says Briggs. "To think I was that close and could have done something."
