PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - WINK News has learned the Port Charlotte High School Band Director accused of sexually assaulting a student has resigned.
That band director is Dale Bowe. Bowe was just named the permanent substitute for the band in August.
Deputies say Dale Bowe befriended at least one band student, bringing him to his house. The student reported falling asleep in the shallow end of Bowe's swimming pool, the student then awoke to Bowe performing oral sex on him.
The incident happened January 2nd.
District leaders tell WINK News Bowe has been working with kids for nearly two decades. During that time there has not been any report or even a rumor of anything like this happening before.
During the investigation, Charlotte County Deputies learned of another possible incident of sexual battery involving another student. That allegedly happened on a trip to Disney World. Now police in Orlando are investigating Bowe.
The Charlotte County School District tells WINK News they are not doing an investigation yet, because the district does not want to jeopardize any criminal investigation with their actions or lines of questioning.
