FIRST ON WINKNews.com: Neighbors react to teacher's arrest

By WINK News

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A high school band director accused of sexually assaulting one of his students is arrested early Saturday.

Dale Bowe has only been Port Charlotte High School's band instructor since August of 2007. Now he is being asked to not return to the school until the investigation is over.

Bowe's neighbor Tony says, "wow." That's the reaction from a small sampling of Dale Bowe's neighbors, deputies arrested Bowe accused of sexual battery of a teenager.

Another neighbor, Kerry, told WINK News, "That's enough to freak me out right now."

A Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reports details the account of a fifteen year old. The teen tells deputies he fell asleep in shallow part of Bowe's swimming pool over winter break, the teen says he awoke to Bowe performing oral sex on him.

"You see those kind of stories on the news but your don't expect to see them in your neighborhood," said neighbor Tony.

Bowe bonded out of jail Saturday. WINK News rang the bell at his home, but nobody came to the door.

Neighbors answered their door, with concern. "I got two (kids) of my own, that's pretty scary," said Kerry.

Just three years ago Bowe was named exceptional volunteer at Port Charlotte High School and became the band director five months ago.

Now just ten days after the alleged incident, that may all be stripped away.

"It's very odd, it's not what I would have expected that's for sure," reflected Tony.

Bowe's trouble may not end with his arrest. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office investigation revealed another accusation against Bowe. This time a 16-year old told investigators, Bowe forced him to have oral sex while on a trip to Disney World.

The Orlando Police Department is investigating this claim, but it is important to note, no charges have been filed in that accusation.

Here is the timeline in this case according to information from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office:

January 2nd: The incident happened.
January 10th: The incident was reported.
January 11th: Bowe was brought into custody.
January 12th: Bowe he made his first appearance in court and bonded out of jail.
