Florida mayors take a stand against property tax amendment

By WINK News

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - On Friday, the Florida League of Mayors announced their opposition to the Amendment 1 tax plan.

Sunrise Mayor Steven B. Feren, president of the Florida League of Mayors says the proposal would take an unfair, inequitable tax system and make it more unfair.

Feren says the way the amendment is set-up it would burdening young families, small businesses and first-time homebuyers with large tax bills.

Feren's argument is similar to one also released Friday by Florida TaxWatch.
