SEAN TAYLOR MURDER: Four arrested in connection with murder

By WINK News

Lee County, Fla. - Four arrests have been made in the murder of NFL star Sean Taylor. The Miami-Dade Police Department made the announcement Friday night.

Investigators say the four men wanted to steal from Taylor's Miami home, not expecting him to be there. However, Taylor was at his home at the time of the incident.

Authorities say Taylor woke up after hearing commotion, and that's when officers say he was shot twice.

Investigators say murder was not part of the plan - they just planned to rob Taylor.

They also say they have a confession, but are still looking for more suspects. They say tips from the community led them to the arrests.

The names of those arrested are as follows:

Venjah K. Hunte, 20
Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18
Eric Rivera Jr., 17
Jason Scott Mitchell, 19

WINK News crews were at FDLE headquarters Friday night when Jason Scott Mitchell's family showed up, hoping to speak with their son.

Mitchell's grandmother said her grandson could not have been involved in the murder because he was at home when the incident took place.

Mitchell's mother was allowed in the building, but she did not get a chance to talk to her son.

To further investigate, WINK crews headed to Campbell Acres, a neighborhood two of the suspects have ties to.

Our crews received mixed emotions from neighbors, some saying the boys are good kids, others saying they are trouble-makers.

As for a family connection, one neighbor says Wardlow's uncle, Devon, has been dating Taylor's sister, Sasha Johnson, for a number of years.
The neighbor added, Johnson was at the Wardlow house in Lee County on Sunday.
