CAPE CORAL, Fla. - The city of Cape Coral plans to apply for an over 74 million dollar federal stimulus grant.
The grant would make 7 thousand Cape Houses energy efficient by investing a total of 14 thousand dollars per home.
In turn owners have to contribute over 3 thousand dollars, but in the end they'd an estimated one thousand dollars a year.
Homeowner Tom Brunow likes the idea,
"Those are some of the better energy efficiency savings that give you a quick return- like added insulation. Putting some insulation underside to cool down the attics and recycle the heat from the AC in order to heat your water."
They will have to apply for the grant by mid December.
After that, it could take up to six months to find out how much if any money will be awarded. .
