26-year-old woman to announce Fort Myers mayor candidacy

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jenna Person is hoping to become the first female mayor of Fort Myers. Person says she will announce her candidacy for Mayor of Fort Myers in one week, on Friday, April 3, 2009.

Person says she is a sixth generation Southwest Floridian and wants to offer a new perspective on city government. The 26-year-old says the city needs better fiscal responsibility and better public communication.

Persons tells WINK News she is a lawyer and received her degree from the George Washington Law School in Washington, D.C. She says she also has degrees in Journalism and Government.

According to the Lee County Supervisor of Elections website no candidate has officially filed to run for the office.

The Primary Election is September 15th, 2009 and the General Election is November 3rd, 2009. The seats of Mayor and Wards 1, 3 and 5 will be up for election.
