WINK NEWS - Bernard Sansaricq, a Republican from Pembroke Pines, became the first person to officially file to run for Florida's 23rd Congressional District. Sansaricq filed on January 23rd, 2009.

The seat is currently held by Democrat Alcee Hastings.

The 23rd Congressional district covers about half of Hendry County, and also large parts of Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties.
