Obama makes rounds in Germany
BERLIN (AP) - Barack Obama is meeting with top German officials today prior to giving a major speech this evening in front of the Tiergarten's 226-foot high Victory Column before a crowd predicted to be in the tens of thousands.
He and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spent about an hour together talking about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as climate and energy issues at Germany's chancellery. A Merkel spokesman describes the discussion as "very open" and wide-ranging. He says other topics included Pakistan, the Middle East peace process, the trans-Atlantic economic partnership and the global economy. Later, Obama met with the German foreign minister.
