Bill Clinton: eager to hit the road for Obama
NEW YORK (AP) - Former President Clinton says he's eager to get out campaigning again, this time for Barack Obama.
Clinton says he had a "good talk" with Obama on the phone, and told him he's ready whenever Democrats need him. But he says he hasn't given any thought to whether he wants to speak at the party convention in Denver. Typically former presidents get a prime-time speaking spot at the party gathering. Clinton also was asked if he's spoken to the Reverend Jesse Jackson about the crude off-air remark Jackson made about Obama while taping an interview on Fox and Friends. Clinton says he hasn't spoken with Jackson, but feels it was right for Jackson to apologize to Obama for the comments. However, he says if everyone lived with live mics, "then 100 percent of us" would be embarrassed from time to time. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
