Obama to accept nomination at football stadium
NEW YORK (AP) - Democrats have announced Illinois Senator Barack Obama will accept the party's presidential nomination at the Denver Broncos' football stadium during the party's convention.
The stadium holds tens of thousands more people than the convention's Pepsi Center. The move is expected to boost fundraising. Obama is scheduled to deliver the acceptance speech on August 28th, the fourth and final night of the convention. That's also the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
