Some of us know that a way to someone’s heart is through food, and how can you go wrong by trying a variety of one of America’s favorite staples?

Millennial Brewing is holding its annual Grilled Cheese Festival this weekend in Downtown Fort Myers, beginning Saturday, April 6, until Sunday, April 7.

“Grilled cheese. I mean, who doesn’t like it? It’s an American staple. And you get all the different varieties, great vendors, it’s a great venue on top of that.” said festival attendee Bill Morris.

The event was founded 7 years ago by the Millennial Brewing Company and has since become one of Fort Myers’ beloved community events.

“Everybody has a connection to grilled cheese so I was like let’s just get a bunch of food trucks together,” said Kyle Siebell, Founder and owner of Millennial Brewing, “Let’s have them be creative and make it exciting. Let’s eat as many different grilled cheeses as we can.”

Kim Schram says she has attended the festival regularly since it began seven years ago.

“We’ve been a part of this since before they opened. We’ve watched them grow and do their great events,” said Schram, “We like what they do for the people around our community and we want to be a part of that and help them out.”

the festival not only spotlights grilled cheese but supports local businesses as well.

One of the newer vendors to attend was Fo’cheesy Twisted Meltz, who came all the from St. Peterburg to serve up some homemade grilled cheese.

Good food for a good cause too; 10% of proceeds collected during the event will be donated.

“This year’s event is benefiting the Dog House Rescue Academy. Every if every festival we do, we give back 10% of net sales.” said Siebell, “Community is really important to us giving back is important.”
