Joey Sovine joined the WINK Skytracker Weather Team in September of 2011 and can be seen every weekday morning on WINK News Now This Morning.
Joey comes to Southwest Florida after spending the past four years as a meteorologist at WCBD in Charleston, South Carolina. Joey also spent time forecasting the weather at WVVA-TV in Bluefield, West Virginia.
A native of Salem, Virginia, Joey graduated from Millersville University in Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science degree in Meteorology.
While at Millersville, Joey took part in the National Collegiate Forecasting Contest where he finished in first place nationally amongst over 700 students and faculty nationwide. He also was a lead forecaster for the Campus Weather Service providing weather forecasts for the university and community.

Joey covered numerous tropical systems while in Charleston and, most recently, reported live from the aftermath of the deadly tornado outbreak in Alabama in April.
Joey is a huge Virginia Tech fan and he also enjoys cheering on the ever-disappointing Cleveland Browns and Indians. In his free time, Joey loves spending time outdoors. Joey, his wife, Chanel, and dog, Dexter, are excited to now be able to call Southwest Florida home.
