FORT MYERS, Fla. - Ronald McDonald is getting a makeover. Local businesses, including City Furniture, Benjamin Moore, and Hampton Inn and Suites have come together to make sure families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida have a nice place to call home.
"To have a room that is fresh and new, to have that as your refuge for the time you spend here is really really wonderful. So we're really excited by it." Says Debra Newman, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House Charities of SWFL
Health Park's Neonatal intensive care unit is one of the best in the state, which means it's also one of the busiest, so many families need a home away from home. The Ronald McDonald House also houses families whose children are being treated at the Children's Hospital.
Several of the Moms who are staying at the house tell WINK News they are excited about their new rooms, and grateful for the opportunity to be close to their babies.
"What struck me the most when i moved here 10 years ago was the caring community that we live in, and how easily it is to get businesses involved with charities in our area," Says Newman. "It has been tremendous."
Volunteers will work through Wednesday night, then City Furniture will deliver the new items tomorrow in time for the afternoon open house at 5:30 P.M.
The Open House is open to the public. The Ronald McDonald House is located at 16100 Roserush Court. Fort Myers, Florida.
