CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A smoking alternative, popular overseas, has made landfall here and is raising some eyebrows in the process. The E Cigarette was brought to the United States by Cape Coral resident and Germany native Dieter Fiebbig. After his wife of 41 years lost her fight with lung cancer, he was inspired to help smokers quit.
The device, which costs around $200.00, operates on a re-chargeable battery, which powers a red light that glows on the tip. When you inhale, the E Cigarette emits an virtually odorless vapor that simulates actual smoke.
So far, no major American health organization has endorsed the product, but the company offers incentive to customers: Quit within three weeks of buying E Cigarette and get a $100.00 rebate.
E Cigarettes are already popular smoking alternatives in Europe and China...but will they work here?
Thank you to everyone who filled out our survey. We are no longer taking requests.

Well after reading the other comments I now realize that smoking is alot bigger than I am. I'm 34 years old and I've been smoking for about 8 years. The older I get the more I become aware that the way I treat my body determines how my body will treat me in the years to come. I've been trying extremely hard to stop but it's bigger than I am....Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is still hope for us smokers. With smoking bans are popping up all over the US there is a new smokeless cigarette NOW available. Crown7.com is a battery-operated cigarette that has NO SMOKE. It looks and acts like a cigarette WITHOUT the harmful side-effects of tar, second-hand smoke and offending others. Smoking Turns Electronic http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/03... Crown7 is legal around the world from Florida to New York to London to Sydney.

This is an absolute car-crash of a story. Firstly, the e-cigarette retails for a maximum of $100 from established, reputable online sellers. Secondly, it is not a proven smoking-cessation device - the claims made on the website are simply made up. Thirdly, the seller only offers nicotine-free e-cigarettes, the whole point on the e-cigarette is harm reduction. That is, you get your nicotine without the 4000 or so other chemicals. Anyone buying this device will be sorely dissapointed.

I have smokd for almost 45 years and now have COPD. My mother died of this when she was 53. My sister when she was 49. I am 54 years old and I really hate it that I smoke. Try as I might I don't ever last longer than about 45 days. That was the record. It is very discouraging to know that my smoking habit is killing me and yet it doesn't seem to be enough to keep me away from smoking forever. In short I will try anything. I would love to be part of this experiment PLEASE!!!!!Thank you.

I have been wanting to quit for several years. I've tried almost everything. I'm scared to quit now because I have a weight problem, I can't afford to gain any more weight. I know if I quit I will start eating more. I'm disabled & on a fixed income. There's no way I could afford this product on my own. Please help me quit with no weight gain.

Just wondering how I can find out if I have been selected to do this study. It is so important to me and my family that I quit smoking. I have tried patches, gum, hypnotism, and cold turkey and nothing has helped in the past. Now with my recent surgery it is so much more important to stop, I just cannot seem to give it up totally. Please let me know as I would really be interested. 239-656-1973 Susan Dufresne

I'am a 41 yr old single mother of a disabled child, new to Florida. My mother passed away 4 yrs ago from emphysema and heart problems. I have already been told I too have emphysema. I have tried to quit on several occasions. It is always one stresser after another and "not a good time to try". I know I have to be here to take care of my son. We really have no other family willing to do that. I watched my mother die, she wathched her mother die, and I dont' want my son to go through that.

It seems like a good idea, if it works, I would be happy with less smoke around to breath, being a non smoker.

Please select me for your study. My father was recently diagnosed with stage three lung cancer. He is pleading with me to stop before it's too late. I really want to quit for myself and as my dad's last wish. I have tried will-power, acupuncture, hypnosis, gum, due to poor circulation and other health problems I have been advised not to use the patch. I REALLY WANT TO BE FREE FROM THIS ADDICTION. I will try anything at this point.

It is vital that I stop smoking immediately as I am presently battling breast cancer. I am scared to death of it spreading to my lungs and shocked I am unable to quit. My mom and I live together and tried Chantix (4X)and were both so ill from it. We would like to try another method together to support/help each other. We have tried many times and ways to stop and are determined to quit ASAP. Please consider us for your program/study (either of us or both if possible). Thank you very much.

My husband and I have smoked for over 40 years. We have tried every thing to quit..gum, patches, pills and most recently over $700.00 for 5 days of acupunture. It was great for 5 days and within 8 days we were smoking again. We will try just about anything. Maybe the e-cigarette is our chance to kick this awful habit. We would be most happy to be the chossen for this test.

I could not find link to purchase product. Both my wife and I smoke, myself for 35years. I have tried patches, gum, magnets, my wife has tried shots as well. All to no avail we are 45 and 52 years old and are looking for a way out of this addiction. We are both active and in good health but see that without quitting that will change. We have 3 children that we would like to set the correct example for as well. Can you let me know where I can get this product. Thank you Mark/Charlene Morrison

I have smoked for over 50 years. My wife died of emphasemia and when she became ill we both tried to stop smoking. Her death in 2003 didn't wise me up. I couldn't think of a better gift to my grandchidren than to quit smoking for good. I have tried so many "cures" but I think this is very promising because I light cigarettes out of habit, not because I think I would enjoy the taste. The E cigarette would satisfy the "automatic trigger impulse" while not filling my lungs with poison.Thank you,HD
