Morgellons Disease: Mystery Skin Condition

By WINK News

(Ft. Myers) An unexplained illness has patients in pain, and doctors baffled. Now, it's getting the attention of the F-D-A.

The illness is called Morgellons Disease, and some patients claim it causes tiny fibers to pop out of the skin. Patients say they feel like splinters. Many face deep scabs and scars, with no relief from itching. Some patients believe something is literally crawling under their skin.

Thousands claim to have the illness, but its symptoms don't fit anything in the textbooks.

Now, the Centers for Disease Control is launching a study to determine what the illness is, and how to treat it.
