LEE COUNTY, Fla. - If Lee County's new Green Team has its way, people won't be using plastic bags at the grocery store anymore. This is just one of the projects the Green Team is working on.

"The goal for Lee County is to make the community more greener and cleaner," says Martha Avila the coordinator of the Green Team.

Lee County recently created the team to focus on ways for us to live more sustainable eco-friendly lives.

The Team is also looking at establishing a program that would provide solar water heaters to low-income communities. The goal is to help those families lower their energy bills.

"People need to be more aware about everything we do here is impacting Gulf of Mexico, impacting the whole world not only thinking about our own needs but thinking about how we impact others in the whole worlds," says Avila.
