Spellings, Bush keynote education summit

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The nation's top education official and former Gov. Jeb Bush will keynote an education summit in Orlando sponsored by one of Bush's foundations.

Education Secretary Margaret Spellings will join Bush to open the two-day meeting Thursday.

The focus will be on education policies Bush championed as governor. They include using free-market principles to improve schools and student performance at low cost. Another featured topic will be vouchers that let children attend private schools at public expense.

Friday's speakers will include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Bush's mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush.
