ONLY ON WINK: Collier schools cutting programs

By Melissa Cabral, WINK News

NAPLES, Fla. - WINK News has just learned Collier County will be cutting several elective courses from the high schools.

The school district says classes in the Practical Arts program, which include nutrition, food prep, and family and consumer sciences will be dropped next year.

Early Childhood Education courses will be cut from Barron Collier High but will still be available in some other high schools.

The state is not going to fund the programs and the district says it can't afford to.

It's not known what will happen to all the teachers. The district says its goal is to place every teacher in a different position.
