Drama teacher acts up in sex sting

Clewiston man solicits sex online while at school

By WINK News

Clewiston, Fla. - The drama teacher at Clewiston Middle School is now on paid suspension after being picked up as part of an undercover sex sting with the police department.

Jeffery Scott Holsclaw, 49, was arrested last Wednesday on charges of procuring prostitution of a minor, sex offenses on a victim between the ages of 12 to 15-years-old, and obscene communication on a computer to seduce or solicit a minor.

The Clewiston police department set up a sting with a decoy who posed as a 15-year-old girl online.

According to a police report, Holsclaw told the decoy he wanted to "not rush the session" and engage in oral sex and agreed to pay $150, but then increased the amount to $250 so he wouldn't have to wear a condom.

But this isn't the first time Holsclaw has been arrested on prostitution charges.

WINK News Now found media reports from Ohio about Holsclaw, alleging that he'd been arrested in May 2006 for similar prostitution charges.

The reports claim neighbors called police after seeing a constant stream of women coming and going into Holsclaw's home.

After setting up surveillance outside his residence, published reports claim police caught Holsclaw paying a 29-year-old woman for sex.

Holsclaw was a teacher at an Ohio school at the time of the arrest and just five weeks late he gained certification to teach in the state of Florida.

WINK News Now spoke to members of the Westerville Police Department, who reportedly made the arrest in 2006. They said Holsclaw's record has been expunged and weren't allowed to comment about any details of the arrest.

None of the court offices in the Westerville, Ohio area had any record of Halsclaw's arrest, which might be a result of his record being expunged.

The Hendry School Superintendent said Holsclaw disclosed his arrest before being hired in Clewiston and told them the charges were dropped.

A criminal background check by the school district reflected the same information, and the district went forward with hiring him.

Superintendent Tom Connors said Holsclaw will most likely have his teaching credentials revoked if he's found guilty of the most recent charges.
