Cribbs' Notes: Summer Camps Heating up

Camps Teaching Kids With Hands-On Fun

By Judd Cribbs

Hands-on summer camps at the Imaginarium and Edison/Ford Estates are teaching kids about the fun of hands-on learning.

At the estates, kids are spending the week learning about plants and the bugs which are attracted to plants. They're even managing to get their hands dirty, planting species on the same grounds where Thomas Edison himself once tended to plants.

At the Imaginarium Hands-On museum, kids are learning about different climates of the world, making igloos out of marshmallows and polar bear masks with cotton balls.

The Ford/Edison Estate is also looking for junior counselors this summer.

Summer camps are also available at the Calusa Nature Center and the Southwest Florida Museum of History.

Call the Edison Estate at 239-334-7419. Other camps are linked below.
