SOUTHWEST FLORIDA - Cape Coral resident Pat Gies was watching WINK Tuesday when she saw our story about a WINK viewer who couldn't afford a converter box.
The boxes are necessary when WINK switched from an analog broadcasting signal to a digital signal.
Margaret Gomes of North Fort Myers says times are tight and she couldn't afford the converter. That's when Gies stepped up and bought one for her.
"I felt bad when she said she couldn't afford one," says Gies, "So I thought, why not just do something nice for somebody."
Then Pat had a stranger do her a favor. He overheard her talking about her plan and gave her a $40 coupon.
Pat used the coupon and bought the box for Gomes, who was touched and thrilled to receive it. She dug out her coupon for us to give back to Pat.
Pat was equally touched. "This is wonderful," she said. "What goes around comes around."
