Golf Doctor arms self with one club

Enters unusual tournament

Mike Calbot, WINK-TV's "Golf Doctor" is getting ready to compete in an unusual tournament. He's taking part in the Papa John's Pizza One Club World Championship in Georgia.

In the 36-hole tournament, each player can use only one club. Driving, chipping and putting all come off the same club face. Mike has opted for a six-iron because of its combination of distance and loft.

Calbot won three such tournaments back in the 1970s and is excited to compete again, this time for a $20,000 purse.

"This plays to my strength," says Calbot. "I'm a trick shot artist. It's all about ball control."

Calbot runs the Mike Calbot International Golf Studio, headquartered at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida.

My husband & I took some lessons from Mike this winter. We are not single digit golfers but Mike treated us as though we were. We are now back in Pa. & whenever I have a problem with my game, all I do is email Mike and he emails back almost immediately with a "magical" tip. He has truly earned his title as The Golf Doctor!!
