Lehigh guy wants to donate collection

By Judd Cribbs

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Joe Accurso spent the past 16 years pursuing a hobby of collecting golf clubs.

"I love golf and I figured why not," he says with a laugh. He says when he retired at age 62 he wanted a hobby but found stamp collecting "boring."

"I'm an avid golfer," he says. "I started picking these up here and there. I'd pay five bucks for some, a buck for some others. I just liked doing it."

Then one day about six months ago, he decided to stop. The final tally: well over 400 clubs. Now, he's trying to donate them to anyone who wants them.

"I really would love for people to come here, if they give me a little warning," he says. "I don't mind and if they are interested, they're welcome to have one. But I don't want anyone to come here and take 50 clubs!"

Joe says some of the clubs are new and some are old. He says evenings are best for visits. To get in touch with Joe, drop me an e-mail at judd.cribbs@winktv.com or call 239-344-5005.
