Knights appear at Diplomat Middle

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - As part of their social studies class about the medieval period, sixth-grade students at Diplomat Middle School in Cape Coral were paid a visit by a couple of knights.

The knights, who use authentic gear, are in the area for a medieval fair in Sarasota. They are friends with social studies teacher Lisa Larson, who asked them to come in and give seven demonstration for the classes.

"It's an actual re-enactment," says Larson, "which brings this lesson to life." She adds that the kids seemed to love the spectacle, which includes actual swordplay. "Oh, they love it. The hallways are abuzz."
