Local kid catches Pennington TD pass!

Meets NY Jets, plays catch with QB

By Judd Cribbs

Gabe Kagan had a liver transplant eleven years ago. His mom Karen donated a part of her liver to save her son.

Gabe, now 12, has since become an advocate for organ donation, giving talks to groups about the importance of donating organs.

He is also part of the Make-A-Wish foundation and once made a wish to visit his favorite NFL team, the New York Jets.

Last week, his wish came true. He traveled to New York and not only met the team but got autographs, was given gear by the players and even played catch with quarterback Chad Pennington.

"We ran a couple of plays on the field," says Gabe. "It was awesome. The Jets, up close and personal. So cool."

"The first impression I got was, they're so huge! I mean, wow!" said Gabe. "I felt like they knew me."

Gabe (and his dad who's also a Jets fan) say it was an experience they will never forget.

"For what he's had to endure," says his mom Karen, "to be given (this) gift was amazing. It was beautiful."
