No, you weren't seeing things if you thought you saw a B-17 bomber flying overhead.
The Experimental Aircraft Association in Wisconsin is touring the country with its fully restored World War II-era B-17, also known as the "Flying Fortress."
The group is touring the plane to promote interest in aviation. "It's so we don't forget some of the history mankind has been through with the souls that have been lost to keep our freedom," says Mike Lamb of the EAA's local chapter.
The plane flew a small group of reporters and photographers around Naples for about 15 or 20 minutes Monday (11/05/07) but plane rides are available for the public (average cost: $400 per person) and tours of the plane are available while it is grounded (cost: $6 per adult).
The plane will be in Naples November 6-7, Punta Gorda, November 9-11 and in Sarasota November 13-14.
