Bill Knight of Fort Myers and Brian Wigelsworth of Sarasota have regular jobs but together they've created a new business: sculpting sand.
Calling themselves the "Sand Lubbers," Bill and Brian will carve some sand art wherever needed. They've been artists throughout their lives and would often compete in sand sculpting contests before joining forces.
They're in Fort Myers using donated sand (which was trucked in from a local quarry) to make a sculpture for the second annual Pirate Festival going on this weekend on Fort Myers Beach (October 6-7).
The event will feature activities and entertainment for kids and adults as well as an actual treasure hunt.
The Sand Lubbers sculpture is across the street from the Smoking Oyster Brewery and should be completed by Saturday evening.
