ORIGINAL STORY:
FORT MYERS, Fla. - A local company specializing in group discount travel packages is getting a lot of criticism. The problem: customers say the company doesn't always deliver, and they want their money back.

For months now Call for Action has been getting phone calls and E-mails from viewers, who say this vacation club, called Travel Partners USA isn’t much of a partner at all. We checked them out.

Doors locked... nobody home. It looks like Travel Partners is making life difficult for its customers.

"I feel that our contract was not held up by Travel Partners USA as was promised to us", said travel customer, Laurie Reinhart

It seems Laurie Reinhart isn’t alone. The day our cameras were outside the travel partner office, others came looking for answers too. Travel customer Dan Capanzzi said, "I’ve invested some money but I haven’t heard anything from the company."

The owner of Travel Partners Bill Matty tells WINK News that financial problems and a bad economy have forced him to shut down the Fort Myers office...he says he hopes to re-open here sometime in September. Matty would not go on camera and would not do a phone interview.

Some customers say they were promised a lot of extras... like discounts and prizes that they didn't get. And now, most of Travel Partner's customers want re-funds saying they can’t trust a company that doesn’t return phone calls or has a local office.

So far Travel Partners has refunded money only to customers who ask within a 3 day "contract window" to get their money back. Some who have paid with a credit card have filed disputes and taken "stop payment" action. But customers who pay with cash or check so far are out of luck.

Our Call for Action volunteers continue to get phone calls and E-mails from people who are having trouble doing business with Travel Partners USA.

The company's owner says customers may still contact Travel Partners at their Fort Lauderdale office. Still, the Better Business Bureau gives travel partners an "unsatisfactory rating."

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers services list many complaints, mostly refund disputes and poor quality of service.

The company's owners now says he is not accepting anymore memberships. He says Travel Partners boast 4,000 members.

If they re-open their office in September like they say they will, we'll let you know.

They also have an office in Sarasota in the Fidelity Building on US 41 just north of Bee Ridge. Unless they closed that down too. Cynthia and Frank are husband and wife, she drives a white 500 mercedes and he drives a 745 BMW. I know they were living in a ocean front a home on Manasota Key. Very flashy people. I checked property appraiser websites for different counties to see if they actually OWN anything in Sarasota and Broward counties nothing came up,looks like they don't want to be found...

COMPLETE B&S : Very disapointed. Totally dishonest and deceptive: We received a solicitation from Travel Partners USA, LLC which offered in exchange for attending the company's 90 minute presentation regarding an intorductory travel seminar we would receive valuable "thank you" gifts! At the conclusion of the seminar we expected to receive the promised gifts. Instead, Travel Partners USA merely provided a "contract for the purchase of a vacation certificate which required a fee"!

My husband tried contacting Cynthia Turnbull and Vic Stone on Firday 7/11 and found the number they gave us is no longer in service. We have emailed Cynthia several times now with no response. We even have a direct number for Cynthia (so she says)and have left message with no response or resolution. That number is 954-332-8151. Hope you have more luck than we have. We have also filed a claim with the Attorney Generals office and the BBB.

I think most people that deal with Travel Partners USA either really love them, or really hate them. On www.viewpoints.com, 12 different people reviewed them and 50% gave a thumbs up, 50% gave thumbs down. I guess it's just really a toss up. http://www.viewpoints.com/Travel-Partners-USA-LLC-Ft-Lauderdale-FL-reviews

Just tried to log on to vacations by Phoenix that was the new TPUSA and could not log on. What's the problem? Some of the above messages make me think I have a big problem. I paid about $4000 and have taken one cruise with no rebate. Now cannot log on at all.

I live all the way in Sarasota and really don't want to take the drive up to Ft. Lauderdale and just to try to find them.

Our income was not great enough so we did not have to listen to pitch. We did a scratch off that included the Caddy down to the TV but won the Bahams trip with high fees attached. We were left out the back door.

I also have a vacation membership with Travel Partners and have been told that Phoenix Travel has taken over. I chatted with them and they assured me that nothing would change and they would take care of all my vacation needs. I now can't get in to their web site!!!! I don't have a good feeling about this. I think it's a scam to get a $199.00 annual fee out of you then leave you high and dry with nothing in return. What can I do. What happened to their web site????? Help!!!!

The wife and I yesterday attended their presentation in Ft. Lauderdale at 6400 N Andrews. A fancy office building with lots of walnut paneling and fancy elevators - not the type of place for discount services, but great to impress. After their 90 minutes of high pressure to buy a $3000 to $5000 membership and talking to "George" we left without buying. But they tried hard to close the deal. You only get the gifts if you pay a $50 "good faith" fee to Spirit Incentives. Stay clear!

We have been a member since 2004 and have not been able to get our "free" weakend deal. Nor have we been able to get a vacation package that is within our criteria. I should have listen to our friends who said "Don't do it!"

My wife and I have been a member since July 2004. We bought the Gold $5000.00 membership. We have contacted them for several trips we wanted to take but, we got better rates on our Expedia account. We recieved the Phoenix Vacations notice that they have taken over Travel Partners USA but they have no web site that I can find and two weeks after the first notice, low and behold our annual fee is supposedly due, very inflated. I tried calling the 866-575-7764 no answer. What do we do? 239-369-8414

Joined Travelpartnersusa for $3000 Silver membership 01/06. Have stopped receiving the newsletter offering special deals, so out of curiousity I tried to log on to the website listed on my membership card and was directed to "travelwithphoenix". I went into the tpusa site in Ft. Lauderdale and was denied access with my membership # and password. Would like to find out if they are owned by the same person(s), and if so are they not obligated to honor the memberships written?

I received a card in the mail from TP USA stating I was eligible to receive two r/t tickets to anywhere in the USA at my request. I called the 800 number and actually set up an appointment for me and my wife to attend one of these seminars in FL. Of course I was told on the phone that all we have to do is show up, attend the seminar, no obligation to buy anything and we would receive the r/t tickets and the $100 gas rebates. After reading all the complaints here, we will not attend.

Please help! I don't know if this is the same Cynthia Turnbull (Frank D'Errico), but we worked for them (as their landscapers). They rented a house on Manasota Key (on beach rd). When they left they still owed us money and we have been unable to collect. If anyone knows where they are please help. Post your info here please...

I want to defend my rights, I been wronged and humiliated, is it because I'm Muslim? Please help!!!! I have a complaint against Travel Partners USA located in Ft. Lauderdale. I ceived a phone call from one the agencies representative, apparently I won a raffle and I was offered a vacation trip for my family. All they asked in return was 90 mnts. of my time. Later, after the presentation ended they told us we didn't qualify because our children and their nanny were in the parking lot!

Beware of TPUSA charges to your credit card. We have never used the services yet they charged our card. When we became aware of the charge we notifed the credit card company that the charge was in disupte. But, the the credit card company denied our disupte because we did not contact TPUSA prior to the charge. How could we contact them when we did not have prior knowledge of the charge. Phone calls to the company are unanswered because "the mailbox is full".

I went to ft.Lauderdale today, the presentation was very smart and enticing. I was told I would not be asked to buy or join anything yet once the presentation was over the pressure was on!! I left with a Free?? trip to the Bahamas, Orlando and Daytona... All have large fees attatched, and the gas card, well that was just a joke. I will be one who will report this company to the BBB, and all other local consumer reporting agency available to those of us who fall pray to companies like these.

I was recently awarded small claim judgement against TP USA for $4,176.42. Residents of Port Charlotte and Bonita Springs also awarded judgements over $5,000 each. TP USA president/owner, William C. Matty, Jr. lives in the Renaissance; home valued over $1,000,000 and owns Renaissance coach home valued over $450,000; occupied by TP USA office/director, Cynthia Turnbill (or Turnbull). I know this because I also live in Renaissance. This "gentleman" needs to be forced to settle!
