LEE COUNTY, Fla- Lee County Domestic Animal services is warning residents to check out so-called animal rescues before donating money.
"Just because someone is registered with the State as a 501 c 3, non profit rescue, does not mean they are acting in the public's or animals' best interests. It only means they are compliant with filing paperwork yearly with the State," said Ria Brown, the public relations manager for Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
